Christopher Harris (in person)
Introduced by curator Greg de Cuir

We are honored to welcome Greg de Cuir, a renowned curator, scholar, and film programmer, who has been instrumental in championing the works of Black artists in experimental cinema. He will present the work of Christopher Harris, with the artist in attendance. De Cuir will introduce the screening of still/here, shown on 16 mm film: a cinematic meditation on the ruins and vacant lots of the north side of St. Louis, an area almost exclusively inhabited by working-class African Americans. While the film documents urban blight and decay, still/here resists closure. It lingers in the space of rupture and engages with the presence of a profound absence.

Christopher Harris belongs to a rare and vital generation of Black moving-image artists who emerged at a shared historical moment and now stand at the forefront of 21st-century cinema. This distinguished group includes resonant names such as Kevin Jerome Everson, Arthur Jafa, and Cauleen Smith, among others. Within this cohort, Harris is the consummate slow chef — each of his works developed with patience, precision, and intention, and served with care on select occasions.

The screening will be followed by a conversation between Christopher Harris and Greg de Cuir.
The film and discussion will be conducted in English, and the event will be accessible to English-speaking audiences.
